Medicaid is a form of medical insurance available for many people who are in specific income brackets which qualifies them to receive this government funded insurance coverage. Whether or not an individual is qualified for Medicaid doesn't only depend upon income however, and individuals shouldn't assume they don't qualify simply because they earn a reasonable income. As an example, men and women who have many dependents may be entitled to Medicaid even when they earn what can be considered a sensible income. Medicaid may also cover the costs of treatment, if someone has been abusing alcohol or drugs and requires treatment. There are many drug and alcohol treatment programs which accept Medicaid, but different states have distinct rules for what forms of rehabilitation are covered. Certain states only cover outpatient treatment services as an example while other states cover far more intensive rehab like a residential stay in long-term drug and alcohol rehab center. If someone is involved in drug abuse and needs help, they are able to use their Medicaid health coverage to get this help. If they don't have Medicaid and in addition don't have enough cash or another form of health insurance to cover rehabilitation, they can check if they are eligible for a Medicaid and then enroll in an alcohol and drug rehab program that's approved in their state.
