TRICARE is medical health insurance that is provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Substance abuse within the military is a lot more common than one would think, and the necessity to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers numerous rehab services to address alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, and also rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will obviously have to obtain a prior approval before taking part in any type of rehabilitation service, which can be arranged using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient facility will be the favored treatment choice, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in that facility per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient program that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which is often very beneficial, as it can help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process. No member of the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are professional rehabilitation counselors standing by to help today.
