TRICARE is medical insurance which is provided to individuals in the armed forces of the United States. Drug and alcohol use within the military is a lot more common than one would assume, and the necessity to provide rehab to these individuals is a priority. TRICARE covers a number of treatment services to address alcohol and drug dependence such as detox services, along with treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient programs. Individuals with TRICARE will of course be asked to have a prior authorization before partaking in any sort of rehab service, which is often organized using their regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient program is the favored rehabilitation option, TRICARE will cover a three week period or one inpatient stay in this particular program per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits concerning how long a TRICARE member can stay in the inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, then there is typically a 30-45 day window that is covered. TRICARE also covers family counselling which can be very useful, as it may help include family members in the healing and process of recovery. No member of the military should struggle with this battle alone, and there are professional treatment counselors standing by to help today.
