Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those who decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This is helpful for those who have just completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of drug use which is really a very small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug treatment facilities which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more beneficial rehab option.
