Individuals who want to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehabilitation client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days per week. This is very helpful for many who have just completed a much more thorough inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small number of clients. For someone with more severe addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab option.
