Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services on a part-time basis daily or several days per week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a short history of substance abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab programs which provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis are going to be the more effective rehab option.
