Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment center. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to resolve substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People that do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services part-time on a daily basis or several days weekly. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small number of clients. For a person with more significant drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities which offer rehab on a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehab choice.
