A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending those who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help offer an appropriate environment to help sustain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and assistance at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside within a group home may be getting involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a viable short-term option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together again.
