TRICARE is health care insurance that is offered to individuals in the military of the United States. Substance abuse inside the military is much more common than one would assume, and the need to offer rehab to these individuals is an important priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehab services to cope with drug and alcohol dependence including detox services, and also treatment in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient settings. People who have TRICARE will of course be asked to obtain a prior approval before partaking in any sort of rehab service, which can be arranged using a regional TRICARE liaison. If an inpatient center will be the preferred treatment option, TRICARE covers a 3 week period or one inpatient stay in such a program per benefit period which is every 365 days. There are specific limits regarding the length of time a TRICARE member can remain within an inpatient facility that accepts TRICARE, and there's typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family therapy which can be very beneficial, as it can certainly help include family members in the healing and recovery process.
