Individuals who wish to maintain a certain amount of flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab when they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment one would normally have to agree to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol treatment center. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to solve substantial drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient option, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and be a part of therapy and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis each day or a few days a week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed a far more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, and for someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For somebody with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which offer treatment over a long-term basis will be the more effective rehab choice.
