LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. People who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and viewed as socially unwanted. This can be a very hard and painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate this pain. Somebody who is LGBT might not feel relaxed in a conventional treatment facility amongst individuals who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing in their lives. A LGBT center offers an environment which can be free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which have to be handled to enable them to get well. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their family, in case their family disagree with their sexual choice as is usually the case. This circumstance is an extremely frequent trigger for substance abuse, and is also a good example of an issue that would be handled in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often would like to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence to be able to lead a healthy life free of drugs and alcohol.
