LGBT means lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are facilities which address the unique needs of these clients. Individuals who are LGBT can often feel alone, misunderstood, and considered socially depraved. This is often an extremely tough or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug use to alleviate this pain. Someone who is LGBT might not feel relaxed in a conventional rehab center amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing within their lives. A LGBT center provides an environment that is totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely safe and comfortable divulging to their peers and rehabilitation counselors problems which should be resolved in order to get well. Rehabilitation counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their loved ones, in case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is generally the case. This situation is an extremely frequent trigger for drug abuse, and is also an example of something which can be handled in rehab. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and rehabilitation will help them accept themselves and create confidence to be able to lead a wholesome life without any alcohol and drugs.
