Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment you might normally have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally show up at meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or several days per week. This can be very helpful for many who have just completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a short history of drug use which is really a very small percentage of clients. For someone with more serious drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities that provide treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
