Medicare is a type of health care insurance created by the federal government for older folks, in addition to those that have specific disabilities and illnesses. If a person that has Medicare needs treatment for instances of substance abuse, their treatment will either be covered fully by their Medicare health insurance or to a significant extent. The one exception is, the person will have to obtain treatment from an alcohol and drugs rehab facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be permitted to commence rehab, they will also have to visit their medical doctor who must state that rehab services are medically necessary, and the doctor will generally approve what type of rehabilitation the individual will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehabilitation providers. Medicare Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted center when the individual has to be hospitalized for their problem, as well as the costs that they will have to cover personally are the same as every other hospital stay. Medicare Part B will partially cover outpatient treatment in a Medicare accepted facility, and the individual will have to cover whatever Medicare Part B doesn't pay for with supplemental insurance coverage or they will have to self pay.
