Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve substantial substance abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab may seem like an expedient possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and take part in counseling and treatment services part-time on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For somebody with more significant drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment centers which provide treatment on a long-term basis will probably be the more effective treatment choice.
