Medicare is a form of medical insurance designed by the federal government for seniors, in addition to people who have specific disabilities and illnesses. If someone that has Medicare needs rehabilitation for cases of drug or alcohol abuse, their rehabilitation will be either covered completely by their Medicare health insurance or to a significant degree. The only real exception is, the individual will need to receive treatment from the alcohol and drugs rehab facility which accepts Medicare. Before the individual will be allowed to start treatment, they may also have to see their primary care physician who must state that rehabilitation services are medically needed, and the physician will typically approve which kind of treatment the person will take part in. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehab services. Part A covers an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted facility when the individual should be in a hospital for his or her issue, and the costs that they will have to cover personally are the same as any other hospital stay. Part B will partially cover outpatient rehab inside a Medicare accepted facility, and the individual will have to cover whatever Part B doesn't cover with supplemental insurance coverage or they'll have to self pay.
