A group home for someone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar facility, a group home will help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. Residents in a group home may be getting involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life setup outside of the group home to enable them to at some time live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a feasible short-term option for many who want to get their lives back together.
