A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for those in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending people who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar place, a group home will help provide an acceptable environment to help maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and support at their fingertips 24/7. People who reside in a group home could be involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some point live on their own away from the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is definitely not a long-term or permanent option, yet it's a viable short-term option for those who want to get their lives back together.
