Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be beneficial in situations where traditional rehabilitation settings have not meet expectations, such as coping with situations in a women's life that happen to be unique and distressing. Such concerns may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and being a mother, or other serious issues that happen to be specific to women. Research shows that women may also get embroiled in substance abuse more readily than men, and so are more predisposed to illness due to drug abuse issues than males consequently. Due to responsibilities in the home, women also tend to put off trying to find and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can lead to catastrophe. That said, treatment services for women are created to ensure that a women's needs would be the concentration and priority.
