Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need treatment for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the rehab client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehab program. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those individuals who need to solve significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like a convenient possibility, it isn't for everybody. People that choose an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and be a part of therapy and rehab services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or a few days weekly. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with just a short history of substance abuse which is usually a very small percentage of clients. For a person with more significant addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more effective rehabilitation option.
