A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for people in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home can help offer an acceptable environment to help maintain stability within their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. Residents inside a group home might be taking part in rehab services while in residence, or could be taking actions to get their life setup outside the group home in order to at some point live independently away from the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it's a viable short term option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
