Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehab client to participate in treatment services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to address significant drug abuse issues. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will typically attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis on a daily basis or several days each week. This is often helpful for individuals who have recently completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or someone with just a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency issues, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facilities which offer treatment on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehab choice.
