Individuals who want to maintain some flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab when they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab will allow for the treatment client to take part in rehabilitation services with the same commitment you might usually have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehab client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to solve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and take part in counseling and rehab services part-time daily or a few days weekly. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a far more extensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a brief history of drug use which is usually a very small number of clients. For somebody with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which offer treatment over a long-term basis will be the more advantageous rehabilitation option.
