Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment facility. This doesn't always work in the treatment client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So even though an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. People who decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis daily or several days weekly. This is helpful for those who have recently completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of substance abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For an individual with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation centers which offer rehab over a long-term basis are going to be the more advantageous treatment option.
