LGBT is short for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are centers which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and viewed as socially depraved. This can be a very difficult or painful existence, and leads many LGBT individuals to a life of drug abuse to numb these feelings. Somebody that is LGBT may not feel comfortable in a traditional treatment center amongst people who aren't experiencing the same challenges they are experiencing in their lives. A LGBT program provides an environment that's totally free of judgment, where LGBT clients can be totally comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which should be resolved to enable them to recover. Treatment counselors in a LGBT rehab will help clients mend relationships with their loved ones, in the case their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is often the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug abuse, and it is an illustration of something which will be resolved in rehabilitation. LGBT clients often just want to be accepted within their lives, and rehab will help them accept themselves and create confidence in order to lead a healthy life free from drugs and alcohol.
