LGBT represents lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and there are programs which address the unique needs of these clients. Those who are LGBT can feel alone, not understood, and considered socially unwanted. This is sometimes a quite challenging or painful way to live, and leads many LGBT individuals to a lifestyle of drug use to alleviate these feelings. Someone that is LGBT might not feel at ease within a conventional rehabilitation facility amongst folks who aren't experiencing the same challenges they may be experiencing within their lives. A LGBT rehab provides an environment which is free from judgment, where LGBT clients can feel completely comfortable and safe revealing to their peers and rehab counselors problems which need to be handled to enable them to get better. Rehabilitation counselors in the LGBT rehab will help clients repair relationships with their family members, in the event their loved ones disagree with their sexual preference as is usually the case. This situation is an extremely common trigger for drug use, which is a good example of an issue that will be handled in treatment. LGBT clients often only want to be accepted in their lives, and treatment will help them accept themselves and produce confidence so that they can lead a healthy life free from drugs and alcohol.
