Individuals who would like to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab should they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab enables the rehabilitation client to take part in rehabilitation services without the commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab facility. This doesn't often work in the rehab client's favor however, specifically those clients who need to address substantial drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an opportune possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily attend meetings and be a part of counseling and rehab services part-time on a daily basis or a few days each week. This is very helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with just a brief history of drug use which is really a really small number of clients. For somebody with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug treatment programs which provide treatment over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
