A group home for somebody who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which offers continual support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending individuals who are experiencing drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar place, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in the group home may be taking part in treatment services while in residence, or could be taking steps to get their life setup outside of the group home in order to at one point live independently not in the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a practical short term option for those who are trying to get their lives back together.
