Being diagnosed with HIV/AIDS may trigger substance abuse, or dangerous sexual conduct because of abusing drugs may have caused the person to contract the sickness. People who have HIV/AIDS, either as a result of their substance abuse or as a pre-existing condition just before their drug use problem, frequently require rehabilitation services tailor-made in order to meet their specific needs and problems. Many of these challenges are physical in nature, due to the fact that drug users with HIV/AIDS rarely take care of themselves and take the proper medicines they need to maintain their health. Consequently, they arrive to rehab in very poor physical shape and this will have to be addressed as a priority while also dealing with other critical issues. Apart from the obvious necessity to deliver medical solutions while in rehabilitation, people with HIV/AIDS will also need to address deeper issues which brought about their drug or alcohol use. Usually, individuals have conditions in their lives which are purely environmental which may have caused them to use alcohol or drugs, including oppressive conditions in their lives or damaging relationships. These are the concerns which treatment counselors will focus on in HIV/AIDS rehabilitation services.
