Individuals who would like to maintain a lot of flexibility within their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab if they need treatment for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the rehabilitation client to participate in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to within an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facility. This doesn't always work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually attend meetings and take part in therapy and rehabilitation services part-time each day or several days per week. This is helpful for individuals who have just completed an even more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as a good aftercare or maintenance step, and someone with only a short history of drug abuse which is really a really small amount of clients. For someone with more significant addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities that provide rehabilitation on a long-term basis will be the more beneficial treatment alternative.
