A group home for someone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continual support and assistance for those in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. As opposed to sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help sustain stability in their lives and have counsel and support within reach around the clock. People who reside in the group home may be getting involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or may be taking measures to get their life set up outside the group home so that they can at one point live on their own away from the group home. By way of example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible temporary option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together.
