Individuals who would like to maintain some flexibility within their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehabilitation for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in rehab services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehab program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve substantial substance abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be a convenient possibility, it isn't for everyone. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will generally take part in meetings and take part in therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or several days each week. This can be very helpful for individuals who have recently completed an even more extensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and someone with just a short history of drug abuse which is usually a very small amount of clients. For somebody with more severe addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation facilities that provide rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial treatment option.
