Individuals who wish to maintain a lot of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab should they need rehab for drug or alcohol abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the rehab client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential drug rehabilitation program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant drug abuse issues. So although an outpatient rehab may seem like an opportune option, it isn't for everybody. Those who do decide on an outpatient rehab will ordinarily show up at meetings and be a part of counseling and rehabilitation services on a part-time basis daily or several days each week. This is very helpful for those who have recently completed an even more complete inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, and for someone with only a brief history of substance abuse which is really a very small amount of clients. For someone with more serious addiction and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug rehabilitation centers which offer rehab over a long-term basis will probably be the more beneficial rehabilitation option.
