Dual diagnosis rehabs are programs which provide rehab to deal with both mental health and addiction issues concurrently. Dual diagnosis is an extremely common situation for individuals involved with drug and alcohol abuse, as those that have mental health problems often medicate themselves with alcohol and drugs to experience some sort of temporary respite from their disorder. Treatment counselors will continue to work to spot environmental issues in the client's life such as negative people in their lives or any other things which must be addressed in order for the person to be mentally stable and sober t when they leave dual diagnosis rehab. Dual diagnosis clients also benefit from behavioral rehabilitation which will help them develop far better coping mechanisms so they are able to better handle life situations better once they depart dual diagnosis rehab instead of turning to drugs and alcohol as a possible option.
