Self pay is sometimes the only option for individuals who need rehab in an alcohol and drug rehabilitation program for substance abuse but haven't any medical insurance. It isn't uncommon for an individual dependent on drugs or alcohol to not have private medical health insurance, as it can be hard to keep an alcohol or drug habit going while still keeping work.
