A group home for anyone who has been involved in alcohol and drug abuse is a place which provides continuous support and assistance for folks in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending individuals who are experiencing substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or another similar facility, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help individuals sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside in a group home could be taking part in rehabilitation services whilst in residence, or could be taking measures to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at some time live on their own not in the group home. For example, a troubled youth who may have been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not really a long-term or permanent option, but it is a sensible short term option for many who making the effort to get their lives back together again.
