Offering gender-specific rehabilitation services has shown to be worthwhile in circumstances where conventional rehabilitation facilities have not meet expectations, like coping with situations within a women's life which can be distinctive and painful. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical trauma, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or other really serious issues that are specific to women. Research has shown that women could also get embroiled in abusing drugs more readily than men, and so are more predisposed to sickness as a result of dependency problems than males consequently. Because of duties in the home, women also tend to put off looking for and receiving treatment, a circumstance which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. Being mindful of this, rehab services for women are created so that a women's needs will be the focus and priority. Just like coed programs, alcohol and drug rehabilitation programs which offer treatment services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women concentrate on both general and gender specific problems who have brought on their substance abuse. Women also benefit from the beneficial support from other female peers, plus some facilities which provide treatment services to women also provide client beds for their young children.
