TRICARE is health insurance that is provided to people in the military of the United States. Drug abuse within the military is much more common than one would imagine, and the need to provide rehab to these individuals is a crucial priority. TRICARE covers a number of rehabilitation services to handle alcohol and drug dependence including detoxification services, as well as rehab in outpatient, partial hospitalization and inpatient facilities. Those that have TRICARE will of course need to obtain a prior authorization before partaking in any kind of rehab service, which may be arranged using a regional TRICARE representative. If an inpatient program could be the favored rehab option, TRICARE covers twenty-one days or one inpatient stay in that center per benefit period which is every 12 months. There are certain limits concerning how much time a TRICARE member can stay in an inpatient center that accepts TRICARE, and there is typically a 30 to 45 day window which is covered. TRICARE also covers family treatment which can be very helpful, as it may help include loved ones in the healing and recovery process.
