A group home for someone who has been involved in drug abuse is a place which provides continual support and help for people in recovery. A group home is ordinarily for troubled adolescents, but there are also group homes for people with a mental health problem or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Instead of sending people who are struggling with substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or any other similar place, a group home may help provide an appropriate environment to help maintain stability in their lives and have counsel and support within reach 24/7. People who reside within a group home could be getting involved in rehabilitation services while in residence, or could possibly be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some point live on their own outside the group home. As an example, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent solution, but it is a feasible short term option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
