A group home for anyone who has tbeen involved with alcohol and drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there are also group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are encountering behavioral difficulties for example. As opposed to sending individuals who are being affected by substance abuse or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home will help offer an acceptable environment to help sustain stability within their lives and have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside in the group home could be involved in rehab services whilst in residence, or could possibly be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home in order to at some point live independently away from the group home. For instance, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can work on getting their GED or acquire work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a viable short-term option for those who making the effort to get their lives back together.
