A group home for someone who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which offers continuous support and help for folks in recovery. A group home is typically for troubled youth, but there's also group homes for people with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral difficulties for example. Rather than sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar place, a group home can help provide an appropriate environment to help sustain stability in their lives and still have counsel and assistance at their fingertips around the clock. People who reside within a group home could be involved in treatment services whilst in residence, or could possibly be taking actions to get their life set up outside the group home to be able to at some point live on their own away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who's been in recovery or has recovered from drug abusedrug use can try to get their GED or obtain work. A group home is not necessarily a long-term or permanent option, but it is a practical short-term option for those who want to get their lives back together again.
