Criminal justice client rehabs are available like a far better option than incarceration or significant fines for those who have already been convicted of any sort of alcohol or drug related crime. As an example, anyone who has been found guilty of driving while impaired of drugs or alcohol may qualify to get rehab services for his or her problem as opposed to serving time in jail. The judge could even order the individual receive rehab, either alone or in addition to other sentencing. First time offenders in particular in many cases are given the chance to select a criminal justice client rehab as an alternative to other sentencing, and it is highly recommended they benefit from it if it is a possibility. The theory behind criminal justice client rehabs is it is far more efficient and effective to invest commitment into treatment than enforcement of other consequences. Much research has been done to see how effective this strategy is on recidivism rates, i.e. if the individual returns or not to criminal justice system following rehabilitation. All indicators seem to be quite positive, and criminal justice clients who take part in rehabilitation have a better possibility of remaining out of the judicial system following rehabilitation.
