Individuals who want to maintain a certain amount of flexibility in their lives can engage in an outpatient rehab if they need rehabilitation for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab makes it possible for the treatment client to take part in rehab services with the same commitment one would ordinarily have to consent to in an inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment program. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, particularly for those clients who need to resolve significant substance abuse problems. So while an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everyone. People who do choose an outpatient rehab will generally attend meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services on a part-time basis every day or a few days per week. This can be very helpful for many who have recently completed a much more comprehensive inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or maintenance step, or for someone with only a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small percentage of clients. For a person with more serious addiction and dependency issues, inpatient or residential drug rehab facilities which provide rehabilitation over a long-term basis will be the more beneficial rehabilitation choice.
