A group home for anyone who has been involved in drug abuse is a facility which provides continuous support and assistance for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled youth, but in addition there are group homes for individuals with a mental health problem or who are encountering behavioral problems for example. Rather than sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from drug abuse to an orphanage, asylum and other similar facility, a group home may help offer an acceptable environment to help maintain stability inside their lives and also have counsel and assistance within reach 24/7. People who reside in a group home may be getting involved in rehab services during residence, or may be taking actions to get their life set up outside of the group home to be able to at some time live on their own away from the group home. For example, a troubled youth who has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire work. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a viable temporary option for individuals who are trying to get their lives back together.
