Offering gender-specific rehab services has shown to be beneficial in circumstances where traditional rehabilitation facilities have not meet expectations, including dealing with situations within a women's life that are distinctive and traumatic. Such issues may have to do with sexual abuse, physical abuse, mental abuse, eating disorders, one's family and motherhood, or another significant issues which are specific to women. Research shows that women also can get embroiled in drug abuse more readily than men, and so are more predisposed to sickness because of dependency issues than males because of this. Because of responsibilities in their home, women also tend to postpone trying to find and receiving care for addiction, a circumstance which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. That said, rehab services for women are designed in order that a women's needs are the concentration and priority. Much like coed facilities, alcohol and drug rehab centers that offer rehabilitation services to women help women through detox and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women target both general and gender specific issues who have triggered their substance abuse. Women also may take advantage of the beneficial support from other female peers, and several facilities that provide rehab services to women offer client beds for their kids.
