A group home for somebody who has tbeen involved with drug and alcohol abuse is a facility which provides continual support and help for individuals in recovery. A group home is usually for troubled adolescents, but in addition there are group homes for those with a mental health disorder or who are experiencing behavioral problems for example. As an alternative to sending people who are struggling with drug abusedrug use or recovering from substance abuse to an orphanage, asylum or other similar facility, a group home may help offer an appropriate environment to help individuals maintain stability inside their lives and still have counsel and assistance within reach around the clock. People who reside inside a group home may be involved in rehabilitation services during residence, or may be taking steps to get their life set up outside of the group home so that they can at some time live independently away from the group home. For instance, a troubled youth that has been in recovery or has recovered from substance abuse can try to get their GED or acquire employment. A group home is certainly not a long-term or permanent answer, but it is a viable temporary option for those who are attempting to get their lives back together again.
