Individuals who wish to maintain some flexibility in their lives can take advantage of an outpatient rehab whenever they need rehab for substance abuse. Outpatient rehab allows for the treatment client to participate in treatment services without the commitment one would usually have to agree to in an inpatient or residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation facility. This doesn't often work in the rehabilitation client's favor however, specifically those individuals who need to resolve significant drug abuse problems. So although an outpatient rehab might appear to be an expedient option, it isn't for everybody. Those that do decide on an outpatient rehab will usually take part in meetings and be a part of therapy and treatment services part-time each day or a few days per week. This is helpful for many who have just completed a far more thorough inpatient or residential program as an effective aftercare or upkeep step, or for someone with just a brief history of drug abuse which is usually a really small amount of clients. For someone with more severe drug abuse and dependency problems, inpatient or residential alcohol and drug treatment centers which provide treatment over a long-term basis will probably be the more effective rehab choice.
