Medicare is a form of health care insurance created by the federal government for older persons, in addition to those that have certain disabilities and sicknesses. If a person that has Medicare needs rehab for instances of drug or alcohol abuse, their treatment will either be covered fully by their Medicare health insurance or to a significant extent. The one exception is, the individual will have to receive treatment coming from an alcohol and drugs detox facility which accepts Medicare. Before the person will be allowed to begin rehabilitation, they may also have to visit their doctor who must state that rehabilitation services are medically essential, and the physician will typically approve what sort of treatment the person will do. Medicare Part An and Part B cover several types of rehabilitation providers. Part A pays for an inpatient stay in a Medicare accepted center when the individual has to be hospitalized for problem, and the costs that they will have to pay for personally are the same as every other hospital stay. Medicare Part B will partially cover outpatient rehab within a Medicare accepted facility, and the individual will have to cover whatever Part B doesn't cover with supplement insurance or they'll have to self pay.
