To start with, detecting an alcohol and drug abuse problem among the hearing impaired is often a challenge, because these individuals may try to hide their issue as a result of social stigmas that come with drug abuse. However, drug and alcohol rehabilitation counselors who offer rehab to hearing impaired individuals see the challenges that these clients face. ASL treatment services are definitely a must, as are treatment services which address the particular challenges that hearing impaired individuals encounter. Group therapy gives a venue for important peer support to ensure that treatment clients can know that they are not on their own, and that there is hope to handle their problem with alcohol and drugs.
