Offering gender-specific rehab services has proven beneficial in circumstances where standard treatment facilities have fallen short, such as dealing with situations in a women's life which are distinctive and distressing. Such difficulties may pertain to sexual abuse, physical trauma, psychological abuse, eating disorders, one's family members and motherhood, or other significant issues which can be specific to women. Research has shown that women could also become involved in substance abuse more readily than men, and are more predisposed to sickness due to addiction issues than males because of this. Due to responsibilities in their home, women also tend to put off seeking out and receiving treatment, a situation which can be a catalyst for catastrophe. With this in mind, rehab services for women are created to ensure a women's needs would be the focus and priority. Similar to coed rehabs, alcohol and drug rehab facilities which provide rehabilitation solutions to women help women through detoxification and withdrawal as a first step. Following this step, counselors help women focus on both general and gender specific issues which may have induced their drug or alcohol use. Women also benefit from the beneficial support from other female peers, plus some programs which provide treatment services to women also provide client beds for her kids.
